I have mild paresthesia... will a novocaine shot make it worse?

A few months ago an ER doctor injured my dental nerve when trying to lance an abscess moler. I have had parasthesia in my lip and face since then (lower right lip and a portion of my face just below it have no or little feeling) Finally going to have the tooth extracted Thursday. Should I worry that the procedure could further injury my nerve? Or will it not make a difference? I'll mention this to the oral surgeon either way of course
